Leaving Home

The first steps are always the hardest!

What does leaving home mean? Leaving the people we love, the places we treasure, the simple daily pleasures, the comforts, and familiarity are all part of what leaving home means. We can change without growing, but we can't grow if we don't change.

Something calls us to grow, learn and evolve, which is perhaps, simply, evolution, or perhaps it is the need to step over the threshold and head on the spiritual quest.

Timely that Benedictus by John O'Donohue was given to me just before I left Australia.

O'Donohue writes that a benediction or blessing is a prayer, an invocation or request for protection and guidance, particularly in the threshold times of birth, death, departure or change.

"When you travel, a new silence goes with you, and if you listen, you will hear what your heart would love to say. A journey can become a sacred thing."
